I have started creating my own Shea butter. I use it as a lotion or chap stick and my husband uses it to style his hair. I like to order mine through New Directions Aromatics which is a Canadian Company. Shea butter has a natural SPF which is a great addition to any skin cream. The vitamin E will help your skin stay soft, reduce scars and will help preserve the butter. It will last a long time as a little goes a long way.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw Shea butter
- 1/4 cup sweet almond butter
- 2 teaspoons vitamin E
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
Directions
- In a double boiler add all ingredients and warm up just until melted. I like to keep mine under 120F.
- You can poor it into a desired container or allow it to reach room temperature and then whip it for a lighter texture. I just use the kitchen aid mixer to whip it up and then scoop into a container.
